Lockdown has not
only given us the privilege to explore
the unknown but known also as protecting the biosphere by planting,
feeding animals, helping people, and many more. The main thing is returning the
trend of simple marriages. A marriage that plays a vital role in
everybody’s life. It is celebrated as a huge event in India.
·
What is the need for simple marriages?
Come on, this is not a thing that will come again and again.
We must enjoy ourselves to our fullest.
But is the couple really enjoying it? Are they happy? Just wait
for a second.
Who’s asking these questions to the couple? Everyone is busy inviting relatives, friends and near & dears. Then comes the planning of
everything. Instead of taking wedding planners for this work, the families
started doing it on their own. “This is so exciting”. No, it is not. It is just
a saying that planning for your marriage is cool and exciting but it is really
stressful which includes financial burden as well.
Big
weddings, Bigger will be the “to-do” list.
Pleasing everyone with different kinds of food and even
guests are interested more in observing jewels, food, clothes, gossip.
Marriage is a union of 2 souls and we are lost in the display
of wealth and glitter of gold.
Simple marriages can have more impact than large celebrations as eliminating extra things, you can focus on minute things that matter to you the most.
·
Some people believing in simple marriages:
1.
One businessman, Manoj Monet from Maharashtra
used the money saved for a daughter’s wedding in building
90 homes for poor and underprivileged people. His daughter said that she
found happiness in seeing the joy in eyes of those who now benefit generous
gesture.
It is true that we can make
someone’s life meaningful and educate someone who needs it the most or we can save
and invest money for a better future or trip ahead.
2. Celebrities
like Madhuri Dixit & Sriram Nene, Shahid Kapoor & Mira Rajput, Virat
Kohli & Anushka Sharma are the people who are an example in showing how beautiful a simple marriage can
be.
· But the main issue that comes in grand style marriages is wastage of food.
Globalization has given choices in food & tastes to the
tongue among Indians. The major problem is there are lots of variety in the food
court that people take it just to taste and if they don’t like it, they throw
it in the dustbin.
We should:
(a) Take as per requirement.
(b) Don’t force someone to eat for taste purposes if they are not interested.
·
According to the NGO feeding India survey, India estimated 10 billion weddings a year, and 10-20% of the food served at the wedding go
to waste.
This is a heart-touching photograph showing that there are
some who are wasting food and on the other hand there are some people who
aren't getting food.
At the end of the day, a wedding should
showcase the love between the 2 people getting married, not all that crafts,
food, favors that won’t matter once the day is over.
Marry for happiness, not for showing off.
