"Cancer is a word, not a sentence."

WHY PEOPLE ARE SO AFRAID ABOUT CANCER?

Cancer is the second-leading cause of death worldwide.

10 million people die from cancer every year.

Is this the real reason behind the fear?

Yes, with no doubt. But the root cause of the fear should be LACK OF AWARENESS and the LACK OF KNOWLEDGE regarding the chronic disease.

World Cancer day is celebrated on 4 February every year. A great initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). It is done to raise awareness worldwide and educate people to come together and help your near and dears by supporting them instead of stop calling and visiting out of fear.

There are many causes of cancer, and some of them are preventable also. Preventable risk factors for cancer include:

  • Heavy alcohol consumption
  •  Smoking
  •  Excess body weight
  • Physical inactivity
  •  Poor nutrition

How can you support your friends or family member if they get diagnosed with cancer?

What actually people do is show some sympathy and then stop visiting their houses. Cancer is not a disease which can spread like viral.

In real mean, there are no rules that how we should react to such things but all we can do is to make the person happy by different ways. Keep it simple. Make your own self strong first. Getting news of someone has cancer can be difficult news to hear. Take time to cope up with your own emotions. Although each person with cancer have different state of mind. So, one should make plans for outing, laugh together, make time for calls, video calls.

The most important thing is to treat them the same way. Talk about the things other than cancer. Listen music or dance together, listen to their stories, go for walk together, play games and many more things to do.

Remember that often little things matter the most.

Continuing relations and regular activities after a cancer diagnosis is the best way in healing process. Do not forget that they need encouragement and support after cancer treatment has finished. As, they need to start a “Normal Life” again.

HYDRATE YOURSELF

Let’s answer some questions that one should always ask to self.

1.    What are the things you can’t live without?

In this Modern Era of Technology, everybody answered as follows:

  •   Mobile.
  •   Charger.
  •   Money.
  •   Internet.
  •   Earphones.
  •   Washing Machine.
  •   Refrigerator.
  •   Fan.
  •   Computer and most important Social Media.
  •   But, some answered Love, Friends.

My dear friends,

“Thousands have lived without Love, Technology. But, not one without WATER”.

Yes, Water is a vital part of our life. Human body consists of 60% water. But, what is the purpose of this water?

Human body uses water in all its cells, organs and tissues to help regulate body temperature and maintaining bodily functions.

As we know, our body loses water during breathing, sneezing, sweating, digestion. So, it’s very much important to re-hydrate body after intervals by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water.

The amount of water a person needs at a time vary from body to body by different factors such as climatic conditions, your health issues or how active you are.

Staying hydrated in summers is quite easier than in winters. Dehydration can occur at any time when your body doesn’t have enough fluid to function properly.

  •  Being less thirsty doesn’t mean that you’re better hydrated.
  • We generally sweat less in cold weather. But still body loses moisture all day, every day regardless of the temperature outside.
  • Temperature can affect the rate of losing water but not the amount.
  • Water is fuel to muscles to keep body participating in different functions.
  •  Always keep water with you. A reusable water bottle can keep you hydrated year-around. If you normally carry water with you in summers, continue your habit in winters too.
  • Always remember 8*8 rule, drink 8 glasses of water daily.

2. Why should we drink water?
  • Helps to lose weight.
  • Healthy skin.
  • Fights infection.
  • Exits body toxins.
  • Healthy heart and controlling calories.
  • Prevent join pains and Arthritis.
  • Boost energy and metabolism
  • Reduce headache, risk of cancer.
  • Helps to prevent kidney stones.
  • Sound sleep.

Many people die every year due to dehydration. So, please be kind to yourself and take care of your body. Moreover, guide more and more people for staying hydrated with water as drinking water is most often the best and cheapest way to stay hydrated.

Welcoming Simple Weddings

Lockdown has not only given us the privilege to explore the unknown but known also as protecting the biosphere by planting, feeding animals, helping people, and many more. The main thing is returning the trend of simple marriages. A marriage that plays a vital role in everybody’s life. It is celebrated as a huge event in India.
·       What is the need for simple marriages?
Come on, this is not a thing that will come again and again. We must enjoy ourselves to our fullest.
But is the couple really enjoying it? Are they happy? Just wait for a second.
Who’s asking these questions to the couple? Everyone is busy inviting relatives, friends and near & dears. Then comes the planning of everything. Instead of taking wedding planners for this work, the families started doing it on their own. “This is so exciting”. No, it is not. It is just a saying that planning for your marriage is cool and exciting but it is really stressful which includes financial burden as well.
Big weddings, Bigger will be the “to-do” list.
Pleasing everyone with different kinds of food and even guests are interested more in observing jewels, food, clothes, gossip.
Marriage is a union of 2 souls and we are lost in the display of wealth and glitter of gold.

Simple marriages can have more impact than large celebrations as eliminating extra things, you can focus on minute things that matter to you the most.

·         Some people believing in simple marriages:
1.       One businessman, Manoj Monet from Maharashtra used the money saved for a daughter’s wedding in building 90 homes for poor and underprivileged people. His daughter said that she found happiness in seeing the joy in eyes of those who now benefit generous gesture.

It is true that we can make someone’s life meaningful and educate someone who needs it the most or we can save and invest money for a better future or trip ahead.
2.       Celebrities like Madhuri Dixit & Sriram Nene, Shahid Kapoor & Mira Rajput, Virat Kohli & Anushka Sharma are the people who are an example in showing how beautiful a simple marriage can be.

·       But the main issue that comes in grand style marriages is wastage of food.
Globalization has given choices in food & tastes to the tongue among Indians. The major problem is there are lots of variety in the food court that people take it just to taste and if they don’t like it, they throw it in the dustbin.
We should:

(a)      Take as per requirement.

(b)      Don’t force someone to eat for taste purposes if they are not interested.

·         According to the NGO feeding India survey, India estimated 10 billion weddings a year, and 10-20% of the food served at the wedding go to waste.

This is a heart-touching photograph showing that there are some who are wasting food and on the other hand there are some people who aren't getting food.

At the end of the day, a wedding should showcase the love between the 2 people getting married, not all that crafts, food, favors that won’t matter once the day is over.

Marry for happiness, not for showing off.
